Each at their own pace

We are in the heart of green Karst.

The sweetness of doing nothing

"Dolce far niente"

Being active is good.

Being inactive is an art. The art of stillness.

Treat yourself to some quiet time to look at the green, without the need to do anything.

Try to picture this: You are lying in a hammock between the trees, your hand with the book falters, your gaze is dreamily fixed on the treetops, that is being gently moved by the breeze while your thought has flown high, high like a bird ...

And maybe another scenario: You light a fire in the outdoor fireplace, it's dark, and you stare at the flames for a long time, the thought flew high into the sky that is full of stars...

By foot

There are endless possibilities for walks. Along well-maintained, marked paths, such as the Krpanova path, or along the azimuth across meadows and forests. You can look at my walks for an idea. You can repeat the walk at any time of the year.

Bloke is the birthplace of skiing. In winter, there are well-maintained cross-country trails in Nova vas. You can rent equipment along the track. Or try your hand at snowshoeing and venture across the snow. For the very brave, swimming in the ice-cold Bloke lake in winter, otherwise, in summer, swimming in it is a pleasant way to cool off on a hot day.

By bike

Even with a bicycle, you have unlimited routes. I'm not a cyclist myself.

However, Lake Bloke is a popular excursion spot for cyclists. And for a reason.

There are no hard climbs. Suitable for whole families and the roads are not very busy.

You can also rent e-bikes in Nova vas.

Near by

By car

There are quite a few natural attractions in the immediate vicinity and reachable by car in 15/30 minutes.

I would highly recommend visiting the world-famous disapiring Cerknica lake, which has nicely arranged bird and wildlife observatories. Follow one of the marked paths around the lake, it will show you a different face in every season.

Climb Slivnica or Križna gora, and if you are interested in the underground world, there is Križna cave.

Take a day trip to Rakov Škocjan or the spectacular Postojna Cave.

For lovers of castles and history, there are two pearls, Snežnik Castle and Predjama Castle. In winter, there is a small ski area for children in Sodražica.

A little further away

By car

For foreign guests who have not yet been to Slovenia, I strongly recommend a visit to the capital, Ljubljana. It is an hour's drive or 45 km away. Of course, there are many options, but a visit to the Slovenian coast, Piran or Izola, will not disappoint you.

My favourite destination in bad weather is the Škocjan Caves. A real Dante's Inferno.
